The Office of Stewardship
“There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.”
On May 19th, I wrote:
“For the past two weeks, we have been re-evaluating and trying to discern what things will look like in September. We are still asking questions, praying, and considering options and we will let you know as soon as some decisions are made. I am confident that God has a plan to draw us closer to Him. Please pray for us that we might hear the Lord clearly.”
On May 30th a group of lay leaders and priests from across the Diocese gathered via Zoom to discuss the 2020 Summit. We looked at current CDC guidelines and felt it was unrealistic to think we would be able to gather the kind of crowd the Summit draws this coming September. We looked at some creative alternatives, but in the end, it was decided that the best path forward would be to postpone and use the planning we have done so far for the 2021 Summit.
If you had been praying for our discernment, THANK YOU! I believe your prayers have been lifting us and carrying us as we have discerned the best path forward. The discernment has been filled with grace and peace, a sure sign that Mary has had her protective hand upon us.
I am hopeful that the 2021 Summit will still have the same theme and speakers and that we will be able to provide the kind of high-quality event people have come to expect. Please look forward to details in the future!
