The Office of Stewardship
“Man makes plans . . . And God laughs.”
. . . or so the saying goes. Perhaps in these times, we could more appropriately say, “Man makes plans and COVID19 laughs.”
This year’s Summit, Ambassadors Training, and the Coronavirus are on my mind this week.
Summit 2020: Fall in Love, Stay in Love, It Decides Everything
Many of you might have been wondering if we plan to have a Summit this year. The information has been kind of slow to come out to you, so let me catch you up! Before the pandemic, we had already set the date for this year’s Summit and Ambassadors Trainings. We also set our theme and have our speakers booked (and their travel arrangements made). See the flyer below for those details.
We were set to share all of this news with you at Pastoral Ministry Days and when that was canceled, we took a “let’s wait and see what happens approach”. We sent flyers to the parishes with a note letting them know that we were hopeful things would be “back to normal by September.”
For the past two weeks, we have been re-evaluating and trying to discern what things will look like in September. We are still asking questions, praying, and considering options and we will let you know as soon as some decisions are made. I am confident that God has a plan to draw us closer to Him. Please pray for us that we might hear the Lord clearly (see Ambassadors below).
Ambassadors Training: Encouragement, Inspiration, and Tools for the Dedicated Disciple
Ambassadors Training this year has been planned for August 8th in Ft. Pierre and August 15th in Spearfish. These half-day trainings will include information presented by Amy Julian, Family Life Director for the Diocese of Rapid City on how parishes can support and encourage strong families in their parish communities. Inspiration to practice Generous Hospitality and detailed information about the Summit is also planned.
If you have participated in our Ambassadors program in the past, you know that prayer plays an important role in this program. As a group, Ambassadors have prayed thousands of Memorares for the success of our annual Summit. Some of you may already have received a prayer card in the mail to track how many Memorares you are praying. If you haven’t and would like one, please email me and I will send you one.
I would be so grateful if you would beg Mary’s intercession for the gift of wisdom as we discern how best to proceed with planned programs like the Summit and Ambassadors in light of the pandemic and the social distancing requirements we are living under. Please know that I will keep you posted of any decisions and plans!
